Teen girl takes bullets to shield baby nephew during shooting

She's being called a hero. A 14-year old girl was recovering Friday morning, after using her body to shield her baby nephew during a south LA shooting.

De Je Brewer was hit three times. One bullet narrowly missed a lung.

De Je lives in 29-palms and Tuesday night, she and her siblings were visiting relatives in South LA.

A dark colored sedan drove past the family's parked SUV. Someone inside the car opened fire.

As the bullets flew, De Je threw herself over her 10-month old nephew. The baby was not hurt.

De Je is recovering. She is a straight-A student. Despite the gunshot wounds, her biggest concern now is missing too much school.

Police say they have no details on the shooter.
