Mother's Day is a day of celebration for many. But for mom's who lost a child, it's also a day of remembrance. Kathryn Wooten knows that loss and did something about it.

A nonprofit group we had previously featured on Community Champions is getting a major financial boost.

With the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl, the Watts Rams were also front and center. 

The Watts Rams, formerly the Watts Bears, is a youth football group founded by the LAPD. It's the most famous of the six youth sports programs under Project Blue.

The Plus Me Project encourages kids to document their childhood and life story. Some of that will go on to be used for their college applications. FOX 11's Christine Devine spoke with Founder and Executive Director Richard Reyes, who was a student at Occidental College when she launched the nonprofit.

The Super Bowl may have come and gone but the legacies left by our community's champions continue to live on across Southern California.

A mother's heartbreak may never heal after losing a child to violence, but mothers are coming together. Kathryn Wooten of Watts lost not one son, but a second son to gang violence.
