SantaCon in San Francisco: Epic pub crawl and Christmas fundraiser

It's that time of year again – when thousands of Santas descend upon San Francisco.

SantaCon kicks off Friday at 8 p.m. with a costume contest at the Mistletoe bar on Sutter Street.

The pub crawl is on Saturday from noon to 10 p.m. Participants should meet at Union Square. No tickets are necessary.

The tradition started in the Bay Area and has since spread to the world.

Tom Dibell, also known as "Santa Tom," said SantaCon isn't just a big party; it's also a fundraiser.

"When you come to the party please bring a new unwrapped toy," he said. "We'll be accepting."

Dibell says when the event first started, they would receive about 700 hundred toys.

Now they get more than 4,000 toy donations every year.
